Employees are generally entitled to 24 days of paid annual leave. 

Those with 10+ years of service are entitled to 26 days of paid leave. 

A worker is entitled to sick leave of 6 months’ duration on provision of a medical certificate from a licensed physician.

Maternity Leave  

Female employees are generally entitled to 14 weeks of paid maternity leave, through social security benefits. 

Paternity Leave 

Fathers are generally eligible for 2 weeks of employer-paid paternity leave. 

The legal employment’s duration is 40 hours per week 

A rest day per week is mandatory (generally on Sundays) 

In accordance with the general collective agreement, overtime work is compensated as follows: 

10% surcharge for the first eight overtime hours 

25% increase for overtime worked beyond the 8th hour 

50% increase for overtime hours worked at night 

50% increase for overtime hours worked on weekly rest days and public holidays 

100% premium for night overtime on weekly and public holidays 

Social security contributions in Chad are due both by the employer and the employee. 

Employer contributions are 16.5% of the gross salary limited to XAF 500,000 per month (XAF 82,500 upper limit). 

Employee contributions are 3.5% of the gross salary limited to XAF 500,000 per month (XAF 17,500 upper limit). 

Employees are entitled to 1 to 2 months of notice period depending on the length of service 

Employees are entitled to 25% to 35% of 1 month’s salary for every year worked depending on the length of service. 

Work permits must be obtained before beginning work in Chad. 

Employers obtain the permits on behalf of foreign workers.
